Pier Street Toilets serve one of the busiest tourist areas in town, making them crucial for visitors and beachgoers. However, the site has now been closed for many years, opening only temporarily during the summer when funded by the Town Council. The redevelopment of this site forms a key part of efforts to revitalize Sandown’s seafront.
The most recent attempt by the Isle of Wight Council to regenerate the site and reprovision the public toilets has fallen through. The Town Council is considering approaching the Isle of Wight Council to take over the site and repurpose it as a public amenity.
The matter will be considered at an Extra-Ordinary Meeting of the Town Council to be held on 27 October 2025 at 7:00 pm at the Broadway Centre.
