The Sandown Dereliction Survey 2025

We know that Sandown has a problem with derelict, damaged and demolished buildings and long-term vacant plots and sites. Tackling these one at a time, with the limited legal and policy tools available, is very difficult, though we must continue to try.

But gathering evidence of the WHOLE effect of dereliction on the experiences of the people who live, work and visit here, can be much more powerful as a tool to make change happen.

Building a well-evidenced understanding how these sites affect people’s daily lives, their own hopes and ambitions, and their sense of living in a ‘good place’ is essential if we are to attract the support and cooperation of regulators, the backing of government at every level, and the funding we need to take urgent and permanent action.

This short survey has been created to collect this necessary information and to properly represent the impact of dereliction on the community of Sandown. Mark which answer most accurately represents how you feel about the question. There is space at the end of the survey to add any other comments you would like to make.

Please have your say!
