The new Football Foundation PlayZone at Sandham Grounds has been completed and has entered a soft‑opening phase, with the public able to make bookings from 1 February 2026 and enjoy the facility ahead of its full official opening event planned for the spring.
The project has been made possible thanks to a £250,000 investment from the Premier League, The FA and Government’s Football Foundation and a further £152,000 from Sandown Town Council.
Work to transform the site into a high‑quality small‑sided sports facility began in September 2025 and was completed at the end of the year
While the PlayZone is now open for public use through advance booking, an official opening ceremony will take place in the spring. This event will celebrate the project’s completion and acknowledge the partners and community members who helped bring it to life.
