Sandown Green Town Volunteers work to keep Sandown clean, green, and welcoming through litter picks, gardening, beach cleans, and wildlife-friendly planting. Key activities include:
Community Clean-ups: Regular litter picks and beach cleans
Gardening & Planting: Maintain planters, troughs, and flowerbeds, introducing year-round colour and encouraging wildlife-friendly planting.
Habitat Improvement: Protecting vulnerable wildlife and improve habitats, making Sandown more sustainable and biodiverse.
Town Beautification: From shrub clearance to creating stunning floral displays, brightening gateways and key areas of the town, turning them into photo opportunities for visitors.
Monthly Activities: The group runs a monthly programme of community activity, adapting to seasonal needs and local priorities

Sessions are lead by Andy Savage, a trained Level 4 Exercise Specialist in chronic respiratory conditions, cancer rehabilitation and PSI falls prevention. Since 2011 Andy has worked with those managing long term conditions including Parkinson’s and Multiple Sclerosis.

Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat provides a 24/7 emergency response service. They are not funded by the government and operate independently from the RNLI. The lifeboat service is sustained entirely through fundraising and public donations.

Sandown Carnival brings the town to life each year with a series of free public events, parades, and entertainment enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. Entirely organised by unpaid volunteers, the Carnival team works tirelessly across a wide range of roles to make these celebrations possible.

Sandown Community Association (Isle of Wight)

Sandown Community Association (Isle of Wight) invites new members from local residents and businesses. Their aim is to support Sandown’s regeneration through community events and improving public spaces to boost footfall and trade.
Membership is free for anyone over 16 living in Sandown North or South wards, or running/managing a business in the area. Simply complete a membership form to join. Donations are welcome to help fund projects and events. Members are encouraged to attend meetings, share ideas, and get involved.
